My Internship

In the summer of 2022 I had the opportunity to complete a three month long internship at Mira Couture. Mira Couture is a couture bridal studio as well as a custom formal wear storefront. It is in the heart of downtown Chicago on East Walton St and is owned by Julie Mersine and founded by Mira Horoszowski. The company has been thriving since 1970 when the brand was established and has only continued to grow every year since. Working there was an amazing opportunity and has given me so much foresight into the industry as a whole.

Projects

While at Mira Couture my first major project was completing full store inventory for them. I individually went through each designer the store carries and marked what we had on the floor and what had become discontinued. I also placed the dresses on new hangers and retagged them with new prices or if the tags had fallen off and had yet to be replaced. I got to then update their inventory books with correct style numbers and images of the dresses. This was a decently long project and took me a couple days of work to complete, but a project I throughly enjoyed.

The second large scale project I completed was helping set up for special events that we hosted, one that stood out was Brides Across America. For the event I got to assist in pulling dresses from our stock and moving around dresses to supply the store with an individual rack for the event. Also helping set up photo areas, a special dessert area, and changing mannequins for the event. During the event I helped brides to find their dress and also with social media for the event showcasing some of the brides who said yes. Then I also helped with tear down from the event, putting many dresses away and reorganizing the store back to its original state.

The third large scale project I completed with updating and reorganizing the stores filing system. For this project I worked with some of their older customer files and reorganized all of them by alphabet and then within each letter I organized them again alphabetically. I made new file labels by name and added many new files that had yet to be added. I also added labels to the file drawers and put all the files into drawers so they could be easily accessed. This was my longest going project and took me a week or so to complete, this project taught me a lot about filing and how to organize it properly and efficiently.

I loved all the projects I had the opportunity to complete and was so glad they were tasked to me. All three of my projects turned out very well and were all something I was very proud to have accomplished during my internship. All the projects I completed were useful and gave me a great way to assist the company and all the bridal consultants. My boss gave me great feedback and support during and after all three of my projects and was happy in the work I had done. While I completed many projects during my time at Mira Couture these were the three projects I was most proud of and that I learned the most from.
